Tropical Rainforest
· More biological diversity than any other in the world.
· Many animals live on the ground, but MOST animals live in the canopy.
· Most nutrients are in plants, the soil is very poor in nutrients.
· More than 100 different kinds of trees.
· Little light reaches the ground.
· 1,400 species of birds live in the canopy.
· Avg. yearly rainfall 157.5 inches
· Avg. temps. Daytime 93°F Nighttime 68°F
· Trees from canopy can grow up to 60m to get light

Tundra

- · So cold no trees grow
- · Two types polar and alpine tundra
- · Near north and south poles
- · Avg. temps. Summer 54°F Winter -15°F

Marine Ecosystem
![Picture](/uploads/1/8/8/1/18816658/735343619.jpg)
- biggest biome:oceans:70% of earth:consists of oceans,gulfs, and bay
- salty=one cup of salt per gallon of water in ocean
- divided in 3 vertical zones, euphotic;top, disphotic;middle, and aphotic;bottom=80% of earth
- deepest point in ocean- Marianna Trench- deeper than Mt. Everest is tall- about 36,200 feet(10,000 meters) deep.
- average temp of oceans-39°F (4°C)
- over 1 million species of plant and animals discovered in ocean
- ocean very important because of algae- marine algae= we breathe- photosynthesis plants and algae provide a lot of worlds oxygen supply- takes in huge amounts carbon dioxide
- kelp=shelter & food>absorbs energy from waves before hitting the shoreline=protect sandy beaches from erosion
- plants in euphotic zone>energy from sun=photosynthesis
- special adaptations to deal with cold=SURVIVE
- most mammals=blubber=warmth-sea otters:no blubber:dense fur:1 million hairs per square inch
Savanna
